About
"Dance to me is something sacred. It is an outlet for me to express my inner beauty, creativity, freedom, gratitude and love. It is my prayer to Purusha (Spirit) and devotion to Prakriti (Matter)".

I am a dancer, singer, composer, and doer of many things currently based in Los Angeles, California. I come from a family of dedicated musicians and naturally found myself drawn towards the classical art of Bharatanatyam. I was five years old when I attended my first class of Bharatanatyam conducted by Dr. Uma Anand (daughter of K. N. Dhandayudapani Pillai).
Slowly, my fondness grew into a passion, and I have been a Bharatanatyam dancer for more than twenty years, equipping myself with various Bharatanatyam techniques, expressions, and theoretical knowledge behind this divine art form. I have been fortunate to learn from many eminent gurus - Smt.Ambika Buch, Dr. Radhika Vairavelavan, Smt.Jyotsna Narayanan and at present from Padma Shri. Leela Samson. To further my knowledge and create a personal style, I have also devoted time to learning other forms of Indian classical dances such as Mohiniattam and Kuchipudi.
Outside of classical dance, I have a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Master of Arts degree. I am proficient in Sanskrit, Tamil and English with some basic Hindi language skills. I am an avid yoga practitioner and use this as a medium to let off some steam and devote time for some self-care. I have training in both Carnatic music and the art of Nattuvangam. Having a musical background has blessed me with a natural sense of rhythm; to further understand its' nuances, I have been learning the endangered art of "Konakkol" from Kalaimamamani Sri. T. R. Sundaresan.
Presently, I have set up my dance school, "Sraddha Fine Arts" and I train passionate students in the art of Bharatanatyam by taking a holistic approach that encompasses dance, music, expression, storytelling, rhythm, and posture.
I love to make new connections and collaborate to work with other artistes. So, I have added a handy button below which you can use to contact me with some questions or just to say hello!
